Tanzania and Zanzibar: The Big Five and island paradise

Do you hear the drums echoing tonight? You catch sight of the impressive Mt Kilimanjaro towering into the sky in the northwest, and you know you've finally arrived! You greet your beaming guide, who's to accompany you for the next few days, then champing at the bit to get right into the adventures ahead, you and your new travel buddies make a beeline for your accommodation.

Your adventure together begins amidst unspoilt nature. As you enjoy the sweeping views over the landscape, you spot Kilimanjaro's little brother Mount Meru nearby, and your excitement grows even greater. What are you in the mood for? A few laps in the pool? Or would you prefer to explore the lodge's expansive grounds?

Tanzania's wilderness ignites your thirst for adventure! And it's about to get pink – but more on that later. Your route first leads you through the country's vast steppe until the radiant earthy tones turn into the lush green of the savannah. Suddenly, you find yourself surrounded by small mud huts inhabited by the hospitable Maasai people, who are already curiously awaiting your visit – an impressive experience! And then things get colourful! Lake Natron beams at you from afar in every imaginable shade of pink and red, and not just because of the countless flamingos that make their homes here but also because of the crabs that live in the salt lake. You take one photo after another, and in the end, you can't decide which is the most beautiful.

And there's another highlight in store: your glamping tents in the middle of the Tanzanian wilderness! You move right in and round off the evening by the pool with a view of the Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano before the sounds of nature lull you to sleep. Sweet dreams!

Today starts with a true explosion of colour! You pull on your hiking boots, and before long, you make it to Lake Natron. Everywhere you look, you see flamingos. The sky, the birds, even the lake – everything is pink!
